What's inside
Corrosion of metals and alloys has a significant effect on the economy, pollutes the environment, and is hazardous to human health. To fully evaluate and mitigate the effects of corrosion, it is essential to understand corrosion properties and mechanisms. Evaluation of Electrochemical Corrosion: Experimental Procedures and Characterization provides an overview of the main techniques of corrosion testing. It describes the fundamentals of corrosion evolution and recommends how to set up experiments that can analyze corrosion properties and mechanisms. It details problems that occur during experimental testing and how to solve them. Addresses corrosion theories, basic specimen preparation, and general electrochemical and surface analysis techniques Suggests experimental procedures for corrosion testing Discusses the protection of testing cells and errors in testing processes Covers the analysis of electrochemical and surface analysis data Includes end-of-chapter exercises for reinforcement of material Features a wealth of industrial case studies This book serves as a valuable reference for materials scientists, corrosion researchers, and others seeking to lessen the impact of metallic corrosion in infrastructure and other critical sectors.
About the Author
Nam Nguyen Dang is an expert in corrosion science, electrochemistry, metallurgy, and nano-photoelectrochemistry. His research centers on the synthesis and characterization of metals and alloys, with a particular focus on developing compounds for corrosion inhibitions through specialized techniques. Apart from his expertise in corrosion science, Dr. Nam is also well-versed in advanced manufacturing techniques for developing sustainable, durable, and eco-friendly materials. His work includes creating novel alloys, corrosion inhibitors, and hybrid materials with promising sustainability. In 2005, Dr. Nam earned his bachelor's degree at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Vietnam and then pursued graduate studies at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea, where he completed both a master's degree in 2008 and a PhD in 2011. In 2012, he joined Deakin University in Australia as an Alfred Deakin research fellowships. Two years later, he was appointed a senior lecturer and manager of the Department of External Relations and Science and Technology at PetroVietnam University. Currently, Dr. Nam serves as an associate professor and manager of the Feature Materials and Devices Laboratory, leading the Electromaterials and Corrosion Science group at Duy Tan University, Vietnam.
